Our sports day was such fun. Lots of adult spectators as well as our young people having fun.
A huge thank you to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council for the positive activities grant that allows us to continue these great events for young people. Dear park users,
With the combination of school summer holidays commencing and the sustained run of good weather, the number of park visitors parking cars in Kilnwick has increased. We request that those of you parking cars please consider the residents of Kilnwick (particularly near the Main Street / Church Lane corner). Please ensure that your parking does not obstruct driveways on either side of the road. Residents need to be able to get in and out of their driveways unobstructed. Please ensure you avoid parking on the corner of Church Lane / Main Street - this is a corner with poor visibility even without vehicles parked there. Please consider that large / emergency vehicles may need to access Kilnwick. We are currently seeking advice on how to minimise the impact of parking on Kilnwick residents. Your co-operation is very much appreciated. Many thanks, The Park, Kilnwick Parklings - our youth events for the rest of 2018. Dates for your diaries! We are extremely excited about plans for the rest of the year!
All events (unless stated) are free of charge, but a parent / guardian needs to remain with the young people during the events. All young people need to be registered at their first attendance and sign in is required at each and every event. Further details will be announced in advance for each event (especially if weather particularly awkward - but we are pretty hardy and most events will run even in bad weather) but this gives an overview for the year! The events: Saturday 4th August - Mini Sports Day at The Park - 2-4pm Saturday 11th August - Meet up and Play at The Park - 2-4pm Sunday 26th August to Monday 27th August (bank holiday weekend) - Camping overnight at The Park. Please register in advance with Ellen (Park Secretary) at ellen.beddows@gmail.com for full details. Setting up from 3pm on Sunday. Tents only (no campervans / motorhomes). Includes star-gazing. Saturday 15th September - Craft session at The Park - 2-4pm Saturday 29th September - Planting autumn bedding plants in old wellies (Bring old wellies!), bark rubbing and other outdoor fun - at The Park 2-4pm. Hopefully planting a real Christmas tree at The Park too. Saturday 13th October - Make a mini garden in a tray - at The Park 2-4pm. Wednesday 31st October - Halloween trick or treating (only at pre-arranged houses in Kilnwick) with party afterwards at Kilnwick Village Hall. Meet at 6pm at Kilnwick Village Hall. Saturday 10th November - Providing an afternoon tea for friends, family and Kilnwick residents at Kilnwick Village Hall - 2pm - 4pm at Kilnwick Village Hall Saturday 24th November - Christmas Decoration making at Kilnwick Village Hall from 2-4pm. Saturday 8th December - Christmas Party at The Park (come wrapped up) - 2-4pm. What fun!! Hope you can join us! 🌳 Attention Litterbugs!
We are thrilled that The Park has been enjoyed by so many with the recent run of good weather 🌞 and school holidays coinciding. However we have noticed an increase in litter, which is disappointing. Please make sure you take home all your litter. The Park is maintained by our wonderful volunteers and they would prefer to be maintaining our current facilities and creating new exciting amenities, not picking up other people's rubbish. Please think of others and take your litter home. A huge thank to you our young volunteers for litter picking and sorting recycling this week. 😃🌳😃 This Saturday (14th July) is another Volunteers day, commencing at midday and finishing with a group BBQ.
We are hoping to install the slide onto the newly shaped mound and install our wooden tractor and trailer unit. We are also hoping to do some tidying up of the longer grass. If you can pop by for the whole afternoon, or just half an hour at some point, your efforts would be much appreciated. Children are welcome to attend with adults as long as well supervised. Please bring gardening gloves, shears, trowels, wheelbarrows, shovels and the like - digging and grass cutting kit! Many thanks and look forward to seeing lots of you there! |
