We had 19 young people (plus adults) attend our Parklings session today. We had a very productive session planting a new Village Hall planter with an evergreen shrub and annual plants. It looks very smart. We also cleared the old rotten planters away and made the ground level and re-seeded with grass seed.
After that, each Parkling created their own "Garden in a Tray" with decorations. We can't wait to see how they evolve as the grass and cress seeds grow! There were some fantastic RHS "Chelsea" inspired ideas. After a cup of hot chocolate, we went and ran off some steam at The Park, before the heavens opened and we all dispersed to dry off!

If travelling to The Park please come on bicycles if possible and if driving, please try and car share.
We've planted 2,000 trees at The Park and we are trying to enhance biodiversity. In addition to this, we are trying to minimize the impact of car parking to the residents of Kilnwick (particularly those residing on Main Street near the public footpath access to The Park). If you are organising a party or a group meet up at The Park please can you contact us (either via Facebook or via our email at [email protected]) so we can offer alternative parking options. Thank you for your understanding. 🌳🚴♀️🌳 We have had a fabulous, if slightly soggy day in Kilnwick today. The Tour de Yorkshire passed through Kilnwick for the first time and we celebrated in style!
The village looked fabulous with Wayne's epic bike creation, the bunting created by our "Bunting Belle's" and painted bikes and lettering. We served drinks and refreshments prior to the race, enjoyed the spectacle, then the celebrations moved to The Park. John (2Chefs) created delicious BBQ food, with his helpers. The Village Hall Committee served on the bar and the kids enjoyed sports day races, tug of war and a colour run! A huge effort from the Kilnwick community, enjoyed by a large number of visitors. Thanks also to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for their £500 grant which allowed us to have such fun and celebrate the TDY visiting our village. |
