Last week Councillor Parnaby, Pollard and Birmingham visited The Park. We were delighted to show them around. They were impressed by the facilities and particularly the immense involvement of volunteers from the community.
Last weekend's Parklings trip was a huge success. We had a guided tour which included bird identification, education about grass snake habitats, pond dipping and bug hunting. All ages had a fabulous time. Full details on our Kilnwick Parklings section of the website!
We've just found out that we have been supported by the Driffield based "Horace Taylor Trust."We are incredibly thrilled to have their support of our project.
Thank you. We were absolutely thrilled to come 3rd and be "Commended" in the Rural Group of the year award at last weeks Yorkshire Post "Rural Awards." This is testament to the huge community involvement and organisational support we've received in the past 18 months. A huge thank you to everyone involved in this incredible project. In our category were long established and extremely large scale projects, so our success at the awards is particularly incredible. The plan for Parklings this Saturday is a trip to Tophill Low Nature Reserve.
We are planning to meet at the car park at 2pm and go exploring. There is a charge which appears to be £3.50 for adults, £1.80 for under 16's and under 5's go free. I am going to pick up a map this afternoon so we can plan routes. More details here: http://tophilllow.blogspot.co.uk/p/visiting.html We will bring some bird books for identification - but please bring any you have at home, plus binoculars if possible. Please come warmly dressed and with wellies! The long range weather forecast is looking a big dubious, but let hope it is wrong! Please let us know if you are planning on coming / wish to car share etc - so we know who to expect. theparkkilnwick@gmail.com or message us via our facebook page. We are down to the last 7 in the shortlist for "Rural Community Group of the Year" from the Yorkshire Post! We are delighted. The results will be announced in October. Another commendation for the incredible volunteers that helped and continue to help this amazing project succeed to such a high level.
