We are pleased to announce we have created a Charity donations webpage. No commission / charges - so all donations come directly to The Park, Kilnwick charity (no 1168729).
If you would like to make a donation this way, its easy and donations (where appropriate) can have gift aid added. Our Adopt a Tree scheme is still running (you can adopt a tree and have a plaque with your wording placed with the tree for donations of £50 and above). See our website for more details (Adopt a tree tab). If anyone would like to do some fundraising / challenges then these can also be added to the Charity page.... Thanks to everyone for your support. https://mydonate.bt.com/charities/theparkkilnwick What fun today at The Park!
We were joined by stone carver Patrick Walls who led a stone carving workshop for 25 Parklings (and 5 adults who joined in on an adult workshop). We had a fabulous time. Meanwhile park maintenance was going on in glorious sunshine! The carvings are going to form part of the signage / nature trail at The Park and will be in place ready for the Grand Opening. A huge thank you to Patrick for guiding us all through the process. We are absolutely thrilled with the carvings everyone produced. All the photos are on the Parklings part of this website! Nick and Lucy from Bracken Burrows (fabulous glamping timber pods for holidays, opening very soon, just a stone's throw from The Park) have kindly taken some amazing overhead pictures of The Park today with their drone!
It is incredible to see The Park from a different perspective and the lovely striped grass is care of our fabulous farming friend Wayne who has just rolled the grassed area. Thanks Wayne! The "browner / darker green" areas are the swathes of native / orchard trees around the perimeter. Doesn't it look fab? It really is starting to take shape. Find out more about Bracken Burrows (ideally located for visits to Kilnwick, The Wolds and beyond) at: https://www.brackenburrows.co.uk/ or via their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/nickandlucy/?fref=mentions Have a peep at the "Kilnwick Parklings" tab to find out more about our calendar of events over the next 2-3 months.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising and running the Lund Village Hall fundraiser on Saturday night.
The Underground Owls provided fabulous entertainment and it was a lovely event for all. There was a great turnout from Kilnwick. Johnny Walker has kindly donated half the proceeds to The Park towards play equipment (the other half for Lund Village Hall). Thanks so much for your kindness! This weekend Jon Trail from Yorkshire Wildlife Trust came and gave a talk to the older Kilnwick Parklings and adults about wildlife enhancement at The Park.
When Jon first came to The Park around a year ago, he made recommendations about wildlife enhancement which we followed. CJ Wildlife (trading as www.birdfood.co.uk) very kindly donated us 2 Insect Hotels, 6 Bat boxes, 2 Barn own boxes, 1 Kestrel box, 10 Great Tit/Sparrow boxes, 4 Blue Tit boxes and 2 open fronted Robin boxes (as per Jon's advice for our site). On Friday night, Jon walked us around The Park advising us on how best to position these bird and bat boxes. He also advised us on wetland habitat creation, bird feeding and wildflower meadows. Absolutely fascinating and really helpful. We are hugely grateful to Jon for his ongoing support and to CJ Wildlife for donating the equipment that Jon was keen for us to install at The Park. We are delighted to announce we have received funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council's "Active Creative" fund towards the Mega Swing at The Park. This nudges us even closer (with recent very generous donations from the Kilnwick community) to achieving our fundraising target. A huge thank you to ERYC!
