It was wet and cold, but the intrepid Parklings (and hardy parents!) did a fabulous job of clearing the wildlflower meadow, ready for this year's display. And a birthday was celebrated too...

Last weekends Christmas Parklings party was a huge success. The Kilnwick grown Christmas tree was planted and decorated, hot chocolate was served to warm us all up... but the real highlight were the visiting donkeys that brought smiles to the faces of young and old! 🎄🦄🎄
Huge thank you to Sarah at Shoreline Trotters for a fabulous afternoon A huge thanks to the volunteers who ran last weekends Parklings pond dipping - a great session! We were amazed how many creatures have already made our Park wetland their home...
Next year we will be developing that area of the Park with wildflower planting and more educational signage... its work in progress! A huge thank you to Brian and Joel from the Play, Sport and Art Service at ERYC for a superb Bushcraft session at The Park yesterday.
The "Kilnwick Parklings" learned about making their own compasses, working out directions, using shadow sticks and fire making (using a variety of methods!). A great session that was much enjoyed Last weekend's Parklings trip was a huge success. We had a guided tour which included bird identification, education about grass snake habitats and fungi, pond dipping and bug hunting. All ages had a fabulous time.
We intend to visit again in the spring as we had such fun and it was much enjoyed by all ages of Parklings (and adults!). All events on 2-4pm unless stated.

A huge thank you to the 15 Parklings and adults who came along to bulb plant today. You are all hardly souls! It was horrible weather and we were wet and muddy by the end, but it was great fun!
We also had our youngest Parkling today - just 5 days old! A big welcome to Erin! And our oldest volunteer was in her 80's. We love the friendships that The Park creates across all generations. Thanks to everyone - we've planted 1200 narcissus in the woodland planting behind the orchard! We look forward to seeing the results next spring! We've had a swap around in the Parklings calendar.
This Saturday 16th September we are bulb planting amongst the native trees. Please meet at The Park. Event is free of charge and runs from 2-4pm approximately. Please bring gardening gloves and trowels and come appropriately dressed. A parent / guardian must stay with their young people. We are hoping our bulb planting of narciccus / crocus will create a fabulous display next spring and for years to come. A fortnight later (30th September) Zoe will be running an Agility Trail session - details to be announced (but will be 2pm start). A fabulous Parklings - thanks so much to everyone who came. We had 2 activities running side by side. Rachel and Chris ran a fabulous rock painting session and Karen from Crafty Learners ran a brilliant watercolour landscapes session! Our artists were amazing and a great time was had by all (including adults!). 😀
Thank you to everyone for their efforts. The creations will be entered into the Handicrafts section of the Grand Opening of The Park. The Parklings Meadow also looks amazing! |
