Our first event was a great success - creation of a Wildflower Meadow (after registration and a tour of The Park). Thanks to everyone including the 17 young people that came along - a real success!
We recently announced that we had received a "Positive Activities Grant" from East Riding of Yorkshire Council for Youth Activities at The Park. This grant will allow us to run a full and exciting calendar of youth activities - with the aim being to enhance the well-being of young people by involving them in the creation of wildlife habitats, challenging them with adventurous outdoor activities and inspiring them with artistic and creative outdoor projects.
We are extremely excited about the planned events for the forthcoming year! We are not revealing all just yet, but we have some very inspiring plans...
The format of the group is that parents will stay with their young people throughout. There will be a "leader" or "leaders" for all activities. Most activities will be free of charge. There may be a modest charge for some trips / workshops. All young people will receive a membership pack. Most of the activities will be unlimited numbers. Some of the workshops will be have a limit on numbers (for safety reasons) - this will be announced in advance.
Our first Kilnwick Parklings activity is for all. It will take place from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday April 29th at The Park. This will be an "Introduction" to The Parklings (which will include a registration event), followed by the seeding of a large wildflower meadow. Everyone needs to be suitably dressed as it will be outdoors for the duration. Please bring rakes / hoes / buckets and gardening gloves. We will need to hoe the weeds, break up the soil, remove any stones and sow the wildflower seed! Some of the wildflower seed will come from our "Grow Wild" kits that we received free of charge from The Grow Wild team - thank you!
