A fabulous Parklings - thanks so much to everyone who came. We had 2 activities running side by side. Rachel and Chris ran a fabulous rock painting session and Karen from Crafty Learners ran a brilliant watercolour landscapes session! Our artists were amazing and a great time was had by all (including adults!). 😀
Thank you to everyone for their efforts. The creations will be entered into the Handicrafts section of the Grand Opening of The Park. The Parklings Meadow also looks amazing! All photos on parklings page.

Parklings is on tomorrow 2pm to 4pm (Saturday 19th). Rachel is joining us on a rock painting workshop (partly for hiding and also for entries to the opening handicrafts competiton). Karen from Crafty Learners is joining us for landscape painting. Again for entries for the handicrafts show.
Bring rocks for painting (we had the idea before the craze!!) and come in sensible outdoor clothing as paint involved!! Activities taking place at the park. See you tomorrow! Look what has been installed at The Park ready for the Grand Opening! Thanks so much to "The Man From Skidby" for donating this amazing sculpture - we are totally thrilled with it. It will form a crucial part of our wildlife walk and we intend to install our wildlife stone sculptures in the same area of The Park as an artistic feature!
John will also be demonstrating his skills in two smaller chain saw carving projects during The Park opening! Thanks so much! https://www.facebook.com/The-Man-From-Skidby-1622232431424839/ A fabulous article in this week's Driffield and Wolds Weekly about the wildlife enhancement at The Park. Next week they are publishing an article about the installation. Thanks very much! Do pick up a copy to read all about it.
This weekend will be a really busy weekend at The Park. We are very keen for volunteers to join us both Saturday and Sunday (5th & 6th August) from 10am - 7pm (even if you can only stay half an hour, it all helps).
We will be turfing, pegging down safety surfacing and creating earth mounds. If you can come please bring gardening gloves, wheelbarrow and a spade (if you can). Please send a message to theparkkilnwick@gmail.com if you need any further information. Your help would be enormously appreciated - we are really close now to getting the play area installed, but this weekend is a really important weekend for us to be ready in time for the grand opening. The last three weekends have been a truly amazing effort at The Park from our skilled Kilnwick tradesmen and volunteers. Installation is going amazingly well - still much to do before the public opening on the 2nd September, but a huge thank you to Johnny Hoggard, Richard Ling, Craig Norris, Martin Mason for their skills, expertise and endless enthusiasm.
A huge thank you to Wayne Smith for being ever ready (and enthusiastic) with his telelift and his ongoing support of the project. And a huge thank you to all the Charity members / volunteers who have helped out - particular thanks to Charlie Hoggard and Joe Styche, Donna Bryans and Alec Bryans, Kenny Quinn, Mariann Spencer, Robert Lee, Kristina Lee, Tim Bristow and Susannah Bristow, Nicky Ling, Paul Daley, Helen Hoggard, Tony Beddows, Lee Beddows, Ellen Beddows, Adrian Styche, Kerry Styche, David Cooper, Nigel Stinson, Diane Blake, Zoe Howe and everyone who has sprayed, weeded, concreted, maintained equipment, filled gabions, installed play equipment, dug the pond, arranged plant hire and fed and watered the volunteers. More photos to follow when the installation is complete... An immense team effort for the good of the community. Thank you. |
